My Speech in English Speech Contest about Economic of Indonesia
Assalamu’alaikumussalam. Wr. Wb.
Exellencies all the judges
Honorable the master of ceremony
The unforgettable all the
audiences whom I proud of you all
Firstly, les’t pray
and thanks unto our God Allah SWt, who has given us mercies and blessing, so we can attend and gather in this beautiful place
in good condition and happy situation.
Secondly, my sholawat
and salam always be given to our Prophet Muhammad SAW, who has guided us from
the darkness to the brightness, from the stupidity to the cleverness and from
the jahiliyyah era to the islamiyah era, namely islamic religion that we love.
Thirdly, I don’t
forget to say thank you very much to master of ceremony, who have given me time
to speak in front of you all.
In this a good occasion, i’d to
deliver my speech by the title “Fire our
spirit to Indonesian economic because we are one”.

Do you remember?
On July 2, 1997,
Asian Financial Crisis began when the government of Thailand, who was saddled
with a foreign debt that was very large, Monetary shift aimed to stimulate
export earnings but this strategy proved futile. Fastly, it created a contagion
effect to other Asian countries because foreign investors. This conflict made
loss of confidence in Asian markets and dispose of currencies and Asian assets
as quickly as possible.Indonesia became the hardest country were hit by the
crisis. It was not only the impact on the economy but also significantly,
impact to the overall system and the political and social situation in
Indonesia. Being unable to cope with this crisis, the Indonesian government
decided to seek financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
in October 1997. And IMF arrived but confusion still remains Lasts.
Meanwhile, the main
social forces were also at work. The demonstrations and criticism directed
towards increasing the Suharto government after he was re-elected as president
. And after the government decided to reduce fuel subsidies in early May, a
large-scale riot occurred in Medan, Jakarta and Solo. Tensions reached a peak
after four Indonesian students killed in the demonstrations at a local
university in Jakarta. This event was named Trisakti tragedy. The next few days
Jakarta riots hit very badly. As never before, the ethnic Chinese - who have
long hated because they are rich - many were targeted in these riots. Shops and
houses belonging to Chinese citizens were burned and many Chinese women
brutally raped. After the riots devastated, more than a thousand people were
killed and thousands of buildings were destroyed. On May 14, 1998 Suharto
resigned from the presidency. And Bahruddin Jusuf Habibi as successor after
him, in habibie era, economic of Indonesia grew well. Because,he is a great
leader to face all of the happen in that time.
Ladies and gentlemen
From
the history of indonesia economic, when Indonesia got many problem and bigest
crisis in that time, what did we get? Did Indonesia repair these problems of
Indonesia economic from a few years a go until now?
As we know, Indonesia
is a big country, inhabited by hundreds of millions people inlcuded islands
spread widely. We have been independent since 1945, but, I think, Indonesia was
not yet independent in terms of economic. Although we have improved in terms of
per capita income year by year , but it proved that the indonesian economic has
not been able to compete with the developed countries .
I tried to draw a
line to the back, and I get the irony which was really disappointing. In this
very rich country, Indonesia’s economic weakness was in the trade deficit.
Currently, Indonesia have to lead about import and export that exports due to
larger than import. but actually, that was wrong, moreover, the largest import
of oil and gas. Was it right?
On the other hand,
highlight subsidy of oil (BBM) to public of Indonesia who actually were not
even on the target. Current budget fuel subsidy was enjoyed by the rich
instead. It was an irony in the midst of us. Of course, that was our mistakes.
The audiences whom I respect
The
great economic is a major key to get a better state order. Through proper and the best education, we are able to
print high-quality for human resources, eradicate ignorance, and destroy
poverty. We are great nation, and we had many young generation to lead our
country.
Today is a good student and a good leader for tomorrow, the economic
would change in our hand. Because we are one. One nation, one island, and one
lenguage. Indonesia is our great nation.
